After three games on the road, El Dorado is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet ASU Prep Poly at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, El Dorado sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-65 win over Mission Heights Prep.
El Dorado relied on the efforts of Mikai Phipps, who scored 20 points along with four steals, and Chris Zaragoza, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Phipps has scored at least 25% of El Dorado's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Carbajal, who scored four points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, ASU Prep Poly came up short against Ridgeline Academy on Monday and fell 63-55. While losing is never fun, ASU Prep Poly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Ridgeline Academy is ranked 19th).
El Dorado's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for ASU Prep Poly, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
