The Talihina Golden Tigers will head out to face off against the Rattan Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Talihina lost 10-2 to Caney on Monday. The Golden Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cy Ammons put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Ammons wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nakaiah King, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rattan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They skirted past Valliant 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since April 8th.
Like Talihina, Rattan also got a great game from a two-way player: Shade Cody. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, Cody posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
In other pitching news, Mark Janoe looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since April 1st.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ben Ellis, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Tabor, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Rattan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Rattan is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Talihina, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.
Talihina might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Rattan in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Golden Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
