The Holly Springs Golden Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 51-42 to Cary. Holly Springs was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cary apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Holly Springs' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kalaesia Lincoln, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, and Amy Lissow who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Lissow has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Lamptey, who scored four points along with three steals.
Cary's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nadia Snesarev, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Snesarev pulled down eight or more rebounds. Luci Augustson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Holly Springs has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Cary, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
Holly Springs will head out on the road to face off against Panther Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Panther Creek's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Holly Springs has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Cary will take on Apex Friendship at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Apex Friendship focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Monday.
