It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Fort Lee Bridgemen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 58-57 win over Cliffside Park. The victory was some much needed relief for Fort Lee as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
It was another big night for Guy Vickers, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Greenberg, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerelz Ortiz, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jamil Gonzalez, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Fort Lee's win ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-13. As for Cliffside Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
Fort Lee will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cliffside Park, they will head out on the road to take on the Scarlets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgefield Park will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
