Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mater Academy East Las Vegas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tru Young, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds. Young is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Kendon Jones was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 15 rebounds.
Cristo Rey St. Viator's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.8 points per game. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cristo Rey St. Viator will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eldorado at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they will head out on the road to square off against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
