Meanwhile, Cary Academy was able to grind out a solid win over South Wake on Tuesday, taking the game 64-56. The Chargers pushed the score to 52-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Sabres cut but never quite recovered from.
Durham Academy better focus on containing Aidan Rousseau and Julian Tweedy as the pair were huge in Cary Academy's win. Rousseau dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Tweedy almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. The game was Tweedy's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Champ Lando was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.
Cary Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Durham Academy, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Durham Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Cary Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
