If the Bassick Lions were feeling good off their 63-21 takedown of the Wolcott RVT Wildcats last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bassick fell 46-37 to the Hilltoppers on Monday. Bassick was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hilltoppers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Bridgeport Central was led to victory by Mikayla Kendrick and Kai Clarke. Kendrick scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and three steals, while Clarke dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 steals. Kiara Clarke was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Bassick's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Bridgeport Central, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.
Bassick will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Warde is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Bridgeport Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Darien is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
