The Mountain View Thunder will head out on the road to face off against the Centralia Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain View has five straight wins, Centralia has 17 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mountain View has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 25 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 61-34 win over St. Helens. Given Mountain View's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 22nd in Washington, while St. Helens is ranked 149th in Oregon), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mountain View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camaria Brown, who scored 12 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Mylee Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Centralia had to suffer through a rough 66-20 loss at the hands of Tumwater. Centralia has struggled against Tumwater recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Centralia, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4.
Mountain View was able to grind out a solid win over Centralia in their previous meeting back in January, winning 52-40. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Centralia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
