Downers Grove North and Oak Park-River Forest are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Trojans will head out to take on the Huskies at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Downers Grove North will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Downers Grove North let Wheaton-Warrenville South stack six runs on them in the seventh inning on Thursday but luckily Downers Grove North prevailed anyway. The Trojans came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 9-6.
Jenna Gordon made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Havrilla, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Megan Hill also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Downers Grove North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Oak Park-River Forest came out on top against Hinsdale Central on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run fourth inning. The Huskies put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.
Molly Chambers looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Maura Carmody was a standout: she fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyssa Hasapis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Oak Park-River Forest is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Downers Grove North, their record now sits at 12-10.
Downers Grove North came up short against Oak Park-River Forest in their previous matchup back in April, falling 8-5. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
