 In other batting news,  Brae Simpson was a standout: she scored two  runs while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was  Kylie Gerig, who  went 3-for-3 with four  RBI and two  runs.
 Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Dugger Union, their victory bumped their record up to 2-7.
 Martinsville will head out on the road to  square off against  Robinson at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Martinsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1  runs per game  this season.
