Horseshoe Bend was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in 2A Region 5. The Generals vanquished Thorsby 42-36 earlier in the week.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Lanett beat Notasulga 47-6. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Montgomery Academy's Josh Thomas and Sam LaPlatney have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Thomas has thrown for 629 yards this season, while LaPlatney, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 11 catches for 364 yards. Lanett's Marlon Bridges Jr. leads the league in rushing yards with 651.
