Baseball Recap: Aztec Takes a Loss

After flying high against Shiprock last Tuesday, Aztec came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the Miyamura Patriots by a score of 9-7 on Thursday. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Cadin Anderson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Hunter Clark also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Aztec's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-12. As for Miyamura, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aztec will venture away from home to take on Kirtland Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Miyamura, they will head out to square off against Bloomfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bobcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
