Last Friday, St. Joseph Academy didn't have too much trouble with the Firebirds at home as they won 67-48. Given St. Joseph Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while the Firebirds are ranked 1087th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Angel Ochoa continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with three steals. That makes it 25 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of St. Joseph Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Dominick Gale, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Army-Navy's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were dealt a 63-30 loss at the hands of Bishop's. Army-Navy has struggled against the Knights recently, as their contest on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
St. Joseph Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Army-Navy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8.
St. Joseph Academy beat the Warriors 49-38 in their previous meeting last Wednesday. Will St. Joseph Academy repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
