The Green Canyon Wolves will head out to square off against the Snow Canyon Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Green Canyon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Timpanogos as Green Canyon made off with a 62-40 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Wolves have posted since December 17, 2024.
Green Canyon relied on the efforts of Talyssa Nelson, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 18 points, and Kloey Tensmeyer, who went 6-for-15 en route to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. What's more, Nelson also posted a 57% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in January of 2024. Eliza Seedall was another key player, putting up four points and nine boards.
Green Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Snow Canyon put another one in the bag last Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Hurricane 74-35. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-12.
Green Canyon better keep an eye on Olivia Hamlin. She was instrumental in Snow Canyon's win, going 11-for-19 on her way to 24 points and four steals. Hamlin has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 49 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Falynn Randall, who went 5-for-7 en route to 12 points and four steals.
Green Canyon's record now sits at 11-13. As for Snow Canyon, they pushed their record up to 23-0 with the victory, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Green Canyon has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Snow Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Green Canyon took a serious blow against Snow Canyon in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 71-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hamlin, who went 11-for-24 to rack up 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Now that Green Canyon knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
