The Clay Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Anthony Wayne Generals at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Clay has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Anthony Wayne will arrive with eight straight victories.
Last Thursday, Clay came up short against Springfield and fell 56-45.
Meanwhile, Anthony Wayne didn't have too much trouble with Findlay on the road on Thursday as they won 55-37. Given Anthony Wayne's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Findlay is ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anthony Wayne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooke Bender led the charge by going 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Bender, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Clay bumped their record down to 3-11 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Anthony Wayne, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.
