Last Friday, things could have been worse for Schaeffer Academy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-32 loss to Rushford-Peterson. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Schaeffer Academy in their matchups with Rushford-Peterson: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite their defeat, Schaeffer Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lillian Morrisey, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Morrisey has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Winona Morgan, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Schaeffer Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Houston put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Lanesboro as Houston made off with a 64-42 victory. The win was just what Houston needed coming off of a 69-31 loss in their prior contest.
Schaeffer Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Houston, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Schaeffer Academy came up short against Houston in their previous matchup back in January, falling 53-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Houston's Avery Kingsley, who scored 20 points along with seven steals. Now that Schaeffer Academy knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
