Softball Recap: Lincoln's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lincoln came tearing into Monday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Hill Falcons as they made off with an 18-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 27-0 back in March.

Eva Vasquez looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Olivia Diaz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Jocelyn Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive contests.

Lincoln pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Hill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln will square off against Los Altos at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Yerba Buena at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons are facing the Aztec Warriors at the right time seeing as the Aztec Warriors are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
