Ainsley Barcalow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Redmond let Maggie Enich and Kati Cygan run wild. Enich went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and one RBI, while Cygan scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Enich has posted over her last ten games. Aubrey Bauer was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Redmond was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastlake only posted a batting average of .258.
Meanwhile, Issaquah unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Skyline by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since March 11, 2024.
Campbell Garvey (2027) was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
Redmond's victory bumped their record up to 14-2-1. As for Issaquah, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.
Redmond's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Issaquah, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Redmond continue to outrun the ball?
Redmond came out on top in a nail-biter against Issaquah in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
