Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Manchester Blue Devils walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 35-0 victory over Johnson County on the road. Given Manchester's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Johnson County is ranked 287th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Darius Favors had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Qua Cooper was another key contributor, rushing for 78 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
The win (which was Manchester's third in a row) raised their record to 9-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42 points. As for Johnson County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
Manchester will square off against Clinch County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clinch County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Johnson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
