Baseball Recap: Palatka Beats Hawthorne for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Palatka had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Everything went their way against the Hawthorne Hornets as they made off with a 16-1 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Landen Echols looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Surrency, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Huerta, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Palatka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hawthorne only posted an OBP of .211.

Palatka's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Hawthorne, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Palatka didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 17-1 win against Peniel Baptist Academy on the 1st. As for Hawthorne, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 17-9 victory against Countryside Christian on the 3rd.
