IMG Academy did not win a state championship, but the Ascenders finished as the No. 1 team in the MaxPreps south region football computer rankings.
IMG Academy was ineligible play for a state championship in Florida because it is not a member of the state association. However, it had a win over Georgia Class AAAAAAA state champion Grayson (Loganville), which finished the year at No. 2.
The regional rankings are based on the MaxPreps National Football Computer Rankings, presented by the Army National Guard. The South region includes teams from Florida, Tennessee, Maryland, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Washington D.C., Kentucky, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
