There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Hattiesburg's senior Drexlan Allen, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Hattiesburg's 51 - 19 win over Oak Grove last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Drexlan Allen. Allen earned four touchdowns and 149 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Allen one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Horn Lake (ranked 2nd in MS) and Washington (ranked 6th in OK). Horn Lake took its game against Washington by a confident 36 - 7 score. Senior Raydarious Jones was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns).
Movin on Up
Pontotoc was heavily favored to win coming into its game last week, and the results showcase why. The final score between it and Aberdeen was a 48 - 8 blowout in Pontotoc's favor. Pontotoc had two big standouts, as senior Justin Carter threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns, while senior Gabe Harmon ran for 89 yards and also punched in one touchdown. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by six, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
Starkville not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Columbus in every quarter. Starkville put the hurt on Columbus with a conclusive 72 - 6 victory. Senior Rodrigues Clark deserves a lot of the credit as he earned two touchdowns and 117 yards rushing the ball. The combined 78 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
