The River Valley Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Van Wert Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
River Valley fell victim to Clear Fork's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a 8-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colts. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, River Valley couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Van Wert had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past Elida 35-14. The result was nothing new for Van Wert, who have now won four matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Brylen Parker was on fire: he rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 162 yards and a touchdown. Reese Krugh also helped out with an impressive 101 receiving yards.
This is the second loss in a row for River Valley and nudges their season record down to 4-6. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-8 Clear Fork (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 40.6% over those games). As for Van Wert, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-3.
