The McKinleyville Panthers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Eureka Loggers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
McKinleyville struggled with assists on Friday (the Tigers had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. McKinleyville lost to the Tigers on the road by a decisive 59-44 margin.
Flynn Creighton put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Bode Douglass, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Eureka, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-49 loss to the Tigers on Wednesday. Eureka has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Julian Goodman, who scored 16 points. Jahmil Rippy was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
McKinleyville's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Eureka, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: McKinleyville have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Eureka struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
McKinleyville was able to grind out a solid win over the Loggers in their previous matchup back in January, winning 49-41. Does McKinleyville have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Loggers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
