The Madison Academy Mustangs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Brindlee Mountain 74-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for Madison Academy, who have now won seven matches by 29 points or more so far this season.
Kenyon Cherry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 207 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Cherry is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Reece, who picked up 151 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Madison Academy's win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Brindlee Mountain and 1-7 Asbury (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36% over those games). As for Brindlee Mountain, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Madison Academy will head out on the road to face off against Susan Moore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Susan Moore will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Madison Academy is ranked 71st). As for Brindlee Mountain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Danville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Danville will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
