Volleyball Recap: Elkhorn South Falls Short Against Ranked Lincoln North Star

Elkhorn South faced Lincoln North Star in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Storm fell just short of the Navigators by a score of 3-2. The Storm just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Elkhorn South wouldn't go down easily and took Lincoln North Star into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 23-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-8.

Despite the loss, Elkhorn South saw an underclassman step up: freshman Finley Tate had 32 digs and three aces. Those 32 digs set a new season-high mark for Tate. Averi Scardina was another key player, getting 11 digs.

Elkhorn South's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Lincoln North Star, they pushed their record up to 22-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Elkhorn South has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Millard North on the 9th. As for Lincoln North Star, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Lincoln Northeast on the 9th.
