The Manchester Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 24 points or more this season. They took their game on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 64-7 win over Clover Hill. Given Manchester's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Clover Hill is ranked 194th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Manchester was led to victory by Rayne Wright and Mia Woolfolk. Wright scored 13 points, while Woolfolk scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Wright's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Smith, who scored six points along with four steals and three blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Clover Hill struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Manchester pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Clover Hill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Manchester is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Huguenot at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Huguenot is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Clover Hill, they will be playing at home against Monacan at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Monacan will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
