Baseball Recap: Ewing Takes a Loss

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Ewing and West Windsor-Plainsboro South have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. Ewing fell 14-10 to West Windsor-Plainsboro South. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Connor Lane was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lane was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Sam Liebowitz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Joey Andreas, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Ewing kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Ewing's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for West Windsor-Plainsboro South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Coming up, Ewing will face off against Nottingham at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Windsor-Plainsboro South, they will challenge Trenton Central at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
