Riley Brubaker and Mason Smith provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Bluffton. The connection was good for 65 yards, the longest such play in Northwest this season.
Lima Central Catholic added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ada, 34-20. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Thunderbirds.
Columbus Grove's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brubaker threw for 210 and 2 touchdowns and Smith had 116 yards receiving. On the ground Brubaker contributed 117 yards. David Bogart helped Columbus Grove's passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 86 yards.
He was 17-31 with 2 interceptions.
Smith was the best receiver in the league this week as the Bulldogs lost to the Pirates. Smith tallied 6 receptions for 116 yards. Bogart helped Columbus Grove's passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 86 yards.
Columbus Grove's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brubaker has thrown for 1,089 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Smith has 23 catches for 400 yards.
An important game coming up in Northwest this week will be when Jefferson takes on the Bulldogs. The Wildcats are currently in first, while Ada is in fourth.
Allen East made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,906 from 8,139. The improvement was largely due to a 36-8 victory over Mt. Gilead last week.
