The Coastal Academy Stingrays''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 42-27 fall against Foothills Christian.
Despite the defeat, Coastal Academy had strong showings from Nathaniel Benavides, who rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns, and Luke Terpstra, who picked up 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Foothills Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ben Hernandez, who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes. Another player making a difference was Kameron Brown, who gained 251 total yards and two touchdowns.
Coastal Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Foothills Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coastal Academy will square off against Victory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Foothills Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against San Diego Jewish Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. San Diego Jewish Academy is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
