Katy is 5-0 against Fort Bend Travis since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Katy Tigers will square off against the Fort Bend Travis Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Katy waltzed into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Katy Taylor 49-3 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Katy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Romel Jordan, who rushed for 87 yards and four touchdowns, and Tremayne Hill, who rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Hill really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. Chase Johnsey also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Travis got themselves on the board against Fort Bend Bush on Friday, but Fort Bend Bush never followed suit. They blew past the Broncos 28-0 at home. The victory was just what Fort Bend Travis needed coming off of a 42-0 loss in their prior game.
Katy pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.2 points per game. As for Fort Bend Travis, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Katy against Fort Bend Travis in their previous matchup back in November of 2018 as the team secured a 52-7 victory. Does Katy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fort Bend Travis turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
