After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Idalou, Muleshoe was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Friona Chieftans 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Mules, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Jake Villanueva made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those four hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Muleshoe is undefeated when Villanueva posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise.
