It was a good run, but the Gallia Academy Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Fairland, falling 85-21. While losing is never fun, Gallia Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Fairland is ranked ninth).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bailey Russell, who scored 23 points along with six steals. Bree Allen was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.
Gallia Academy now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Fairland, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.
Gallia Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Circleville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Gilmour Academy at 9:00 a.m. on January 15th.
