Pierce has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Willows Honkers at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Pierce nor Willows posted many goals in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.
Last Tuesday, neither Pierce nor Live Oak could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Willows' offense. They were the victim of a tough 3-0 defeat at the hands of Colusa on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that Willows has lost by exactly three goals.
Pierce's draw gives them a new season record of 6-8-3. As for Willows, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-16.
Pierce skirted past Willows 1-0 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pierce since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
