Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Water Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shaddai Freeman, who picked up 129 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Freeman showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 63 yards. Water Valley also got a significant boost from Zae Bradford, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 121 yards.
Water Valley didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Bruce to a completion percentage of just 25%. The team can thank Kemauri Page for the heroic effort on defense: he. Water Valley wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 63.6%.
Water Valley's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Braylon Benson and JD Gooch, who racked up six sacks between them. Gooch has been hot recently, having also posted nine or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Channing Freeman got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Baldwyn challenged Biggersville on Friday. The Bearcats came up short against the Lions, falling 27-6. The contest marked the Bearcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Water Valley's record is now 5-1. As for Baldwyn, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 5-1.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Water Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 228.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Baldwyn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 152 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Water Valley suffered a grim 27-7 defeat to Baldwyn in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
