Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for South Putnam

South Putnam had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the North Central Thunderbirds. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Alyssa Pingleton was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, South Putnam let Elliana Cox and Danae Cline run wild. Cox got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Cline got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Cline has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Pepper Rice, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

South Putnam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

South Putnam's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Central, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, South Putnam will square off against Brown County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Brown County has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.45 runs per game on average), something South Putnam will no doubt try to take advantage of. North Central has already played their next game (against Dugger Union), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
