The Clovis East Timberwolves will head out to challenge the Arroyo Grande Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clovis East has five straight wins, Arroyo Grande has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Clovis East will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Clovis, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Timberwolves came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Chloe Solis looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eliana Massicci, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Emma Carmona also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Clovis East hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Arroyo Grande and Righetti meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Eagles fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 6-5.
Adelana Rodriguez (2026) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 14 hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Jaedyn Valdez (2025) was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Clovis East's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Arroyo Grande, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
Clovis East came out on top in a nail-biter against Arroyo Grande when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Timberwolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
