Osceola and Countryside are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Osceola Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Countryside Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Osceola's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Countryside's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Osceola is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Lakeland Christian on Friday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.
Osceola got a good showing from Luke Pembleton, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Osceola saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vincent Ferrell, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Kaden DeLeeuw also deserves some recognition as he stolen his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Countryside posted their biggest win since April 18, 2024 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Indian Rocks Christian with a sharp 10-2 victory. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Braeden Callahan made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Luke Neubauer was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Sean Sobush was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Osceola's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Countryside, their record now sits at 3-1.
Countryside's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Osceola has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Countryside, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Osceola keep running through batters, or will Countryside buck the trend?
Osceola was able to grind out a solid victory over Countryside in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, winning 7-2. Will Osceola repeat their success, or does Countryside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
