The North Stokes Vikings will head out to challenge the South Davidson Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Stokes has given up an average of 44.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 50-6, which was the final score in North Stokes' tilt against Bishop McGuinness last Friday. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Villains recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, South Davidson strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Stokes 34-6. The Wildcats pushed the score to 27-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Sauras had little chance of recovering from.
North Stokes better focus on containing Myles Scercy and Gage Underwood as the pair were huge in South Davidson's win. Scercy rushed for 107 yards and one TD, while Underwood rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Underwood also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending three passes in addition to snagging an interception.
South Davidson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
South Davidson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Underwood, Scercy, Duke Howell, and Jacob Hill picked up one apiece. Hill is on a roll when it comes to interceptions, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
South Davidson's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for North Stokes, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-5.
North Stokes won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, slipping by South Davidson 7-6. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
