On Thursday, Holy Cross took a serious blow against Caravel, falling 63-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Holy Cross has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Holy Cross lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mona Okorie. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Okorie is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Jianna Davneiro was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals.
Holy Cross' defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 4-3. As for Caravel, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Holy Cross won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Gerstell Academy at 4:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Hopefully Gerstell Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday. Caravel will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against St. Anthony's at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. St. Anthony's will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 251st in New York, while Caravel is ranked second in Delaware).
