The South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Mishawaka Marian 73-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points South Bend Career Academy has scored all season.
South Bend Career Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Quincy Bradshaw and Davion Mitchell. Bradshaw scored five points along with five rebounds, while Mitchell scored nine points.
Leading Mishawaka Marian to victory were William Owens and Zion Rhoades. Owens scored 14 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Rhoades scored 20 points along with two steals and two blocks. Rhoades is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paxan Sullivan, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
South Bend Career Academy's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Mishawaka Marian, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
South Bend Career Academy will be playing at home against the Colonials at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Bend Clay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Thursday. As for Mishawaka Marian, they will head out on the road to challenge the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Prairie will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 378th, while the Knights are ranked 86th).
