The Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos will be playing at home against the Dayton Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fort Bend Marshall has three straight victories, Dayton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Fort Bend Marshall put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Galena Park 48-6 on the road. Given Fort Bend Marshall's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Galena Park is ranked 723rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Dayton had to suffer through a rough 56-22 loss at the hands of Fort Bend Willowridge.
Dayton's loss came about despite a quality game from Dawson Victorian, who picked up 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Fort Bend Marshall has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Dayton, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5.
Everything came up roses for Fort Bend Marshall against Dayton in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 52-21 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Dayton's Carson Horton, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 149 yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Fort Bend Marshall to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
