The Winnfield Tigers proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 36) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakeview and snuck past 70-68. The victory was familiar territory for Winnfield who now have three in a row.
Winnfield was led to victory by Decavian Duncan and Jaylon Jackson. Duncan scored 20 points along with five assists and three steals, while Jackson scored 24 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Craig St Cyr, who scored five points along with five steals.
Winnfield is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for Lakeview, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-6.
Winnfield will head out on the road to square off against Rosepine at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lakeview, they will be playing at home against Ruston at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
