The Jacksboro Tigers will challenge the Eastland Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Eastland will be up against a hot Jacksboro team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Tigers put the hurt on Whitesboro with a sharp 11-5 victory on Monday. Jacksboro's win was all the more impressive since the Bearcats were averaging only 4.08 runs allowed on the season.
The team relied heavily on Maddy Morgan, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Starr Wesson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Eastland came out on top against Millsap on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run seventh inning. The Mavericks were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Bulldogs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mavericks.
Ana Cunningham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Jayci Majors was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two triples, and three runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Adyson Carroll, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Eastland lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.
Eastland's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Jacksboro, their win bumped their record up to 19-11-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jacksboro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Eastland struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
