Jonesboro fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat North Little Rock 37-7 on the road.
Markevious Pickett had a dynamite game for Jonesboro, rushing for 227 yards and three touchdowns. Pickett was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Jordan Daniels and his 115 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Jonesboro's victory.
Meanwhile, Little Rock Southwest's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. Their tough 59-33 loss to Bryant might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Little Rock Southwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas football rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Bryant is ranked fourth).
Jonesboro's win lifted them to 3-4 while Little Rock Southwest's loss dropped them down to 1-6.
Jonesboro strolled past Little Rock Southwest in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 45-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jonesboro since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
