Football Recap: Yorktown Skates Past Wakefield with Ease

Yorktown's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 45-6 victory over the Wakefield Warriors. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their seven-point performance the game before.

Sammy Keiser was a one-man wrecking crew as he picked up 85 receiving yards and two scores. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 50 yards.

Yorktown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wakefield only rushed for 13.

Yorktown's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.7 points over those games. As for Wakefield, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Yorktown is set to take on their familiar foe Herndon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wakefield will square off against rival George C. Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for the Warriors and four for the Statesmen.
