Ethan Mundt Turns in Season-Best Performance
On Friday, Troy got the W thanks in part to Ethan Mundt playing the best football he has all season. Mundt rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also caught a touchdown. His longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

The second Troy player making an appearance here is Rudy Alcala, and for good reason. He threw for 150 yards and five touchdowns.
If history really does repeat itself, Alcala might just drop another big game when he faces off against Irvine on Friday. Alcala threw for 362 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per attempt, and also punched in a rushing score the last time he and the Vaqueros duked it out back in September of 2023.

Anthony Abad Makes It Two for Sonora
The second Sonora player making an appearance here is Anthony Abad, and for good reason. He rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 125 rushing yards dating back to last season.
On the season, Abad has run in 14 touchdowns while averaging 150.7 rushing yards per game.

Deacon Moss Delivers Best Performance of Season
Irvine was led to victory by Deacon Moss, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Moss picked up 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The performance also marked the most rushing yards (five) he has had since back in October of 2023. He was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 59 yards.
Moss and Irvine will head out to square off against Troy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vaqueros got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Warriors, probably because Moss had a solid game then too: he picked up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown.
