The Bishop Kearney Kings will venture away from home to take on the Nardin Academy Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bishop Kearney has three straight victories, Nardin Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Bishop Kearney got the win against Eastridge by a conclusive 19-7.
Claire Spears made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Spears was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Coral Enscoe was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Sara Skripnik, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Bishop Kearney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Nardin Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Nichols on Monday and fell 6-4.
Adeline Lugo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Teagan Edwards also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Nardin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Bishop Kearney, their record is now 3-0.
Nardin Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop Kearney has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. It's a different story for Nardin Academy, though, as they've only averaged .346. Will they be able to contain Bishop Kearney's hitters?
Bishop Kearney might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Nardin Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Kings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
