Baseball Recap: Dunmore Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Dunmore had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Holy Cross on Monday. The Bucks were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Crusaders. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mason Stets made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs.

In other batting news, Max Forgione and Bobby Hoban did most of the damage at the plate: Forgione went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Hoban went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Evan Mizenko was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Dunmore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Cross only posted a batting average of .174.

The victory (which was Dunmore's sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-3. As for Holy Cross, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Dunmore will host Montrose at 3:30 p.m. on the 22nd. The Bucks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Meteors have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Holy Cross, they will venture away from home to challenge Elk Lake at 4:30 p.m. on the 21st.
