Softball Recap: Benton Beats Pope County for Their Third Straight Win

Benton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Pope County Pirates 17-5. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Malia Webb (2025) was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Carlie James (2026) also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Benton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pope County only posted an OBP of .462.

Benton's record now sits at 16-14. As for Pope County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.

Benton has already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Mt. Carmel on the 21st. As for Pope County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-0 defeat against Hardin County on the 20th.
